I'm not a parent, but I hope to be one soon! A lot of my FB friends have kids, and they're always communicating with each other about product recalls and potential safety issues.

Here's one that was posted today:

Kids Drinks & Snacks Could Contain High Levels of Lead (http://www.inhabitots.com/2010/06/11/85-of-kids-drinks-snacks-could-contain-high-levels-of-lead/)

That is disturbing. The list just kept going and going...

Abbott recalls infant formula on bug contamination. YUM!

Up to 5 million Similac-brand powders may contain insect parts, the company says.

A friend of mine's baby was just hospitalized for salmonella poisoning and they think it was from the similac formula...but the report doesn't mention salmonella.

maybe the formula IS giving kids salmonella, but the PR people are just saying "digestive problems". Same thing, right? Just one way of saying it keeps the stock from plummeting further and the lawsuits from piling up.

Bugs don't carry salmonella, do they? But i guess the probs are still related. The issues that resulted in bug parts certainly caused the salmonella contamination.

I really dont get it. Is the chocolate covered samonella beetle factory right next to the formula plant? Maybe we'll get more details.
