I searched for a thread for this band, but didn't come up with one.

Pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/news/41200-broadcasts-trish-keenan-hospitalized-seriously-ill/) is reporting that Trish Keenan is seriously ill.

Frontwoman Trish Keenan of British electronic experimental pop duo Broadcast (http://pitchfork.com/artists/473-broadcast/) is currently hospitalized and coping with a serious illness. Warp Records sent over the following statement: "[Manager] Martin [Pike] says that he can confirm that Trish is in hospital and very ill with pneumonia currently. At this time, please respect the privacy of the band and the family and when there is any more news he will be sure to update fans."

Rumors of Keenan's illness began with a post on Broadcast's Facebook page last night from Crystal Summers, a user claiming to be Keenan's sister. She wrote, "I'm sorry everyone but I have some bad news. Trish Keenan is fighting for her life in hospital. I will keep everyone informed." Summers went on to say that Keenan has been on life support since Christmas, having contracted H1N1 flu after a trip to Australia. She added, "She won't be singing for some time as she has to have a tube that the doctors put in her throat. She will have to have surgery and she won't be able to get any infections in the wound."
So sad. I really hope she'll recover. Tender Buttons remains one of my favorite albums ever. [post28]

That's awful. I love Tender Buttons but haven't heard any of their other stuff.

Gah, I love Broadcast. [post28] I hope she recovers soon.

clarion, listen to Haha Sound! Less electronic than Tender Buttons, and more on the psychedelic side of things.

That's terrible news. They are one of my favorite bands and are criminally too unknown.

Sadly she didn't make it. Incredibly tragic news. Here's the official statement from Warp Records: http://warp.net/records/broadcast/a-statement

My best friend interviewed Trish a few years back in my living room and I got the pleasure of just sitting and listening to her talk in her soft Brummie accent. Such a smart, fascinating woman. So upset today :(

Well, fuck.

This is so sad. My favorite band ever. I don't even know what to say right now, really. This was all so sudden and unexpected. :(

stunningly wretched, isn't it?

Tears in the Typing Pool, a song written by her upon or about the death of her father, and now.. she's gone too. Poignant as fuck.

She was only what... 42? Too fucking young. I hope the end was peaceful and painless for her. [post28]

Had Investigate Witch Cults of the Radio Age on the turntable earlier tonight. That and the 7" for Ghost Box in 2010 with The Focus Group had me really excited for further weird jaunts into the radiophonic; Broadcast and The Focus Group were perfect collaborators.

Posted this to my FB earlier, definitely worth sharing: Trish's Mind Bending Motorway Mix (http://www.theartsdesk.com/index.php?option=com_k2&view=item&id=2880%3Arip-trish-keenan-broadcast-dies&Itemid=12).
