I'm glad that Star Whisperer and Fearlessness are staples.
From what we've heard so far I'm hoping for: Take to the sky (the St. Petersburg one was so fierce that it really makes me want to have it happen), Bells for her, Siren, Carbon, CALS, Purple People.
As a debut I'd like Icicle, maybe with the quartett.

Big "NO" to anything post SW and pre NoH... if I really had to listen to something MWG I'd really love Winter's Carol.

If I had to chose from TBK/ADP/AATS the less painful (or the best) songs I'd like to hear Mother Revolution or Smokey Joe with quartett or Welcome to England.

If I'm not wrong evey Milan setlist counted Hey Jupiter... I'd be glad to hear the Dakota version with the quartett.

I'm also dreaming about Flying Dutchman but I don't see it coming.

Give her good food in Milan, and don't worry about what she plays :D

Maeve
10-05-2011, 11:17 PM
I can try to hypnotize her with a chain of maccheroni decorated with the cork of a fine bottle of Brunello and induce her to play whatever I want her to :p (well... if it could really be done I'd try it for real)

I really want Sweet Sangria and I'm not sure why. It's not one of my top 10 or anything. But I love the idea of it with the SQ!

She really need to debut something from scarlet. I'm wishing for gold dust, but I'd also like another girl's paradise, the version from paris last year was awesome.

Hopefully I'll see some of you guys around, say Hi!

Big Wheel with quartet = did NOT see that coming.

I like Big Wheel. I think I might want to hear it with the SQ, but I would rather it take a break and hear something that wasn't played every single night for the last two tours. Or a song that would definitely work with the SQ.

Oh, lord. I didn't want to go to my show alone, so I asked my mom to come with me. She said, "OK, but only if she plays Big Wheel!" (If my mom were an Unf member, she'd be deemed a troll due to her love of Mary, Cars & Guitars, and Big Wheel -- which is her favorite song.) She's cursed us, hasn't she?

And dammit, I wasn't going to read this thread. I have no willpower.

I'm legitimately excited to hear Big Wheel with the quartet, 'cause I bet it's going to be great. However, I too am worried that it's going to be done every night now. Again. Which is just so unnecessary. It's been a tour staple twice, Tori. Let it go. She really loves this song, huh?

It's gotten a big crowd reaction every time I've heard it live (which is... a lot), so maybe that has something to do with it. Anyhow, I would unabashedly love the song without the stupid MILF part. It's otherwise fun.

See, I would picture them doing a sort of country fiddle type sound with it (which actually sounds pretty cool to me). That is, assuming these Polish (?) string players are familiar with country/western...

I confirm that this is the setlist, she didn't play Way Down. I put in bold the songs with the quartett.

I have to say that she was fierce, she nailed everything, I think that it's since 2001 that she wasn't so on her game.
I was aware about the few staples and other songs she played in the previous dates but the moment I heard the first notes of LE and right beside it Sugar... I was amazed. Actually I have to confess that I had a little bit of teary eyes for the intensity she put in these songs... and in the entire set actually.

It was a little weird though because I think I never saw so many "casual" listeners. Usually in the venues in the past I was surrounded by people that, like me, knew almost everything about her and her catalogue, this time there were many that weren't clearly long dated fans and a setlist so centered on b-sides I think disoriented many of them.

I can say that very few knew Graveyard or Frog on my Toe or even Siren.. I was completely head over heels for this setlist and the guys right at my left seemed to have gone to the wrong show and wondering what the hell they were listening to ;l

So... she was perfect, the setlist is amazing, this change, touring with the quartett, definitely brought new life to her and I haven't seen her so genuinely involved and ejoyed by what she plays and sings in many years.

I believe that someone recorded the show and I really hope that the boot surfaces soon.

If she keeps it on like this, since usually the american leg of her tour brings even more special performances, I think that you americans are so lucky. This tour is something not to lose.
I'm really happy to have been there to witness this rejuvenated Tori.

About the outfit: it was yellow or at least yellow-ish, I couldn't make out exactly the color because the lights were various colors too and I was a little too far to see it well. Top and pants with a transparent blouse with one arm long long and wavy (batwing style) and the other short. I'm not a fan of yellow clothes but it looked good on her and I think it was a pretty outfit.

Even if the entire show was definitely a highlight I'll mention few songs that I think stood out for how good they've been:

- Little Earthquakes
- Sugar
- Star Whisperer
- Cruel
- Siren
- Pretty Good Year
- Purple People

I'm also happy because it's been the first show my sister could see and she loved it... not that there was something not to love. Even Big Wheel was good. The new arrangement is really interesting and Big Wheel is such a bad song on the album as much as it's a really good crowd shaker when it's played live... it's just impossible not to move on it.

i enjoyed Big Wheel on ADP and the ADP tour, but i really hope it doesn't become a staple on this tour. i think it would sound decent if it weren't for the audience's horrible rhythm with the clapping, but still..of all the songs in her catalog to be doing on her first and possibly only tour with a string quartet, i think we can leave the MILF stuff in Cornwall at "Mark's house"! seriously, of all songs to spend time arranging and rehearsing with the quartet..even from ADP, how about Dragon, Smokey Joe, Beauty of Speed (!!!), Almost Rosey, Code Red instead?

lol, you know it will. tori loves the fuck out of big wheel.

ugh, i hate that she played purple people with two keyboards and spent most of her time not at the piano. i don't understand her affinity for that keyboard, omg. she's doing the exact same stuff she would be doing at the piano; just play at the piano, it sounds better! i am DYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for a solo code red! i don't even care if she does it with the SQ (although I would love to hear that over a solo rendition, honestly), just so long as she's at the piano playing the shit out of that song.

Rabih
10-08-2011, 05:26 PM
^ While I understand why she loved to play Big Wheel in a band tour almost every single night in 2007 and wanting to end shows in 2009 on a positive note, I believe within this tour's context, this song is a bit irrelevant. I see the shock factor that she can do whatever she wants, even Big Wheel with a SQ, but it just feels next to Star Whisperer, COMT, Winter and other SQ songs. And it's too bad since it feels to me that they did spend some time to learn its new arrangement and not work out other songs. And so I think it will come frequently in the tour, she obviously loves to play it, even if people are really tired of it. But that's just my two cents :D

And Big Wheel was enjoyable but I prefer the band versions. I applaud the fact that she done it though, and I wouldn't actually mind hearing it in Glasgow.

Big Wheel sounds truly awful. I find it quite laughable that she plays this song so often, when she really wasn't pushing this song when it was a single, they way she should have done it.

letting it be a proper single

REMIXES!

I think, there was an oppurtunity to release a great REMIX EP with some fun-songs from ADP together with some good remixers, we sadly never got.

Big Wheel
Body & Soul
Bouncing Off Clouds
Teenage Hustling
Secret Spell
Miracle
My Posse Can Do

It could have been a success for her. Some of the songs screamed for a remix, really!

This version of Sugar is BY FAR the best solo- version of the song I have heard so far by her!
