I'm sure it will be requested.

or Flying Dutchman. We suggested a cover of Calm After the Storm, the Dutch Eurovision entry that became 2nd after Austria. Tori said Tash keeps on talking about that song. We requested it in Rotterdam. So you'll never know (odds are small though, since she didn't know the song).

Wonderful Copenhagen, perhaps?

Aaaah! That would be amazing intersectionality for me (although Rise Like a Phoenix would be even better but hey).

here's what she said about Frozen back in 98:

Amos orders up a cappuccino, "real milky, like you'd make it for a child," and when it arrives, she clutches the cup to her jaw. As the pain subsides, her face takes on a distant look. The spell is broken when Madonna's "Frozen" comes on the radio. "I love this song!" Amos squeals. "It makes me want to . . ." Amos trills an operatic version of Madonna's spiritual opus, then clamps a hand over her mouth as Saturday-afternoon shoppers turn their heads her way.

Wish she would have done it on the organ like 2005. It was bloody brilliant. ;)

I'll never understand all the love the 2005 version gets. For me, it sort of took the harrowing element out of the song. I mean, it's still a fine song, but there's something super morbid about Blood Roses that the organ arrangement doesn't have.

I have attended this and the Rotterdam show. Both were amazing; Tori's voice sounds and is amazing and the piano sounded like Bösendorfer, although I think it's all midi, it sounded great. I'm always amazed by the beauty of that instrument and super jealous that I can't play it.
If anyone is in doubt of going to see her this time, don't be. Just go.

RedHerring
05-30-2014, 08:28 AM
Wow. I was so lucky to be at this show. Blood Roses! Her voice was absolutely in control stellar! From really low and angry notes to very high tender notes seamlessly. Weatherman and Oysters are so beautiful. In 2009 she also played Little Amsterdam, Starry Night, Little Earthquakes and Cornflake Girl, but whereas in 2009 I for the first time in a Tori concert I was a bit bored, now I could've easily listened to her playing for hours and hours more. My friend was ill and I took my mother in law who likes classical music and has never in her life been to a popconcert. She enjoyed it very much and was impressed with the strenght of her voice and piano playing. But being with someone who doesn't know Tori well, seems to make you more aware of her cooky side. The shuffling on stage (why wear very high heels if you can't just walk in them?), the funny but pointless story about a bearded lady??, the sea-lion clapping back at the audience.. well that's also Tori for you.
The backing tape thing, as said before by many others, is weird. She could've easily done without. Or use just some loops. For me it snapped me out of the spell I was in. She once said that she doesn't like to play Cornflake Girl solo, and obviously she thinks she has to play CG at every show, but then it would make more sense to do the first two or three songs of the encore with backing tape. Not one with backing tape, the a few without and then another one with backing tape. But that was the only flaw in an otherwise perfect fantastic show!

hey j.
05-30-2014, 10:14 AM
Wish she would have done it on the organ like 2005. It was bloody brilliant. ;)

I am with you in my love for 05 blood roses - particularly the Frankfurt version. But there is something so effortless about her recent performances, where I'm not listening waiting to see if she'll hit the notes and getting excited when she does, but rather just getting lost in the performances.

Also her version of frozen is just everything I could have imagined it to be.

Ugh so I listened to my recording and it's fine but I don't really want to share the full thing because in between songs it's full of me fangirling and it's way more audible than I was expecting. Shall I share some loose songs instead??

I am beyond jealous of all of you that got to see this. What a perfect show; I would've been on the edge of my seat from start to finish.

I requested Blood Roses at the Dublin M&G, and she said she'd try to do it at one of the shows I was attending if her voice was in good enough shape. ("It's a really difficult song to sing, so I won't do it if it means shredding my vocal chords, but if I can do it I will.")

Yay for Mountain finally coming out, too!

It'll add character :)

Incredible, especially that Oysters and of course Frozen.

"You're so consumed with how much you get"... could be Fori's epitaph.

I'm glad to hear she's obviously taking good care of her voice this time out. :) I'm in awe of the performances from this show and this tour as a whole. I honestly did not think she'd sound like this again. Amazing.

I thought for sure the high notes in Oysters ("turn turn turn") would be a real stretch for her at this point - but they sound very natural and comfortable! I think she used her voice well on UG.

I am sure we could all handle the fangirling! :D

Loose songs are fine, fangirling is fine.

For me, that's the best Blood Roses I've heard since the version on Live from NY. I mean, I liked it with the band and all but holy fuck.

I need some Talula! :D but doubt she could ever top the 2001 versions, epic.

It's a lot easier to hear the lyrics to Mountain when it's solo.
After watching these videos I nearly bought tickets for a second show. I'm going to be so envious when I see the setlist for Nashville, I just know it.

Mountain is always kind of bleh live, but I don't care, I'd still love to have it at any show I'm at. I don't know what needs to happen for the damn song to be released (I believe dollsbitches asked and there were label issues).

Not sure if I'm the only one, but this 2014 Winter is the first time I feel emotion in the song since maybe 2007. Everything since then sounded really empty to me, including the NoH tour and the GD version.

Hurray for 2014!
