I don't think I could even imagine this era's Tori Amos doing Fat Slut!

Well maybe if she magically reinvented it as a precious ballad? :-P

I always thought Fat Slut would work as a great Beauty Queen-esque intro to Doughnut Song.

Please please please.

i'd love a set with Sister Named Desire in fact i'd be stunned. -- yes people please don't throw eggs at me - there's gorgeous piano playing and you can hear the passion in her vocal delivery - i acknowledge she is all over the place, and understand why people don't like it, but to me it works for this song. and it is 1,000 miles away from the polished sounds and restraints of her later career. it just couldn't be more anti-fori.

Wait do people consider Sister Named Desire bad?
It is actually one of my favorite songs from Tori. She may be all over the place vocally, but so is Professional Widow and Blood Roses.I wish it was on the actual album.

So we're screwed. Let's be desperate and share photos of squirrels with huge balls like we did in 2011.

Undented's Twitter says "CfG is sing-along." I don't know if that means that it's an audience sing-along or if it means she's singing along to a backing track.

That makes the most sense! I guess I would have said "a sing-along" and not just "is sing-along" if I meant "the audience is singing along."

I wish that all of the shows were streamed live. It would be a great way for Tori to promote the new album and grow her audience. The people who are going to buy tickets are still going to buy tickets...

Does anyone know how difficult that is to do?

DavidIX
05-08-2014, 10:44 PM
So Cornflake Girl was performed with a backing track and was completely full of energy!
Leather she basically asked the audience to sing along and it ws a great moment

Iieee I personally think works better than voodoo in the final song of main set spot, be interesting to see what happens with that over the tour

Yes. It's all but confirmed, by the looks of it. But if it's indeed 80 shows, there should be other locations as well. I don't think she'd do as much as 13 shows across just Australia.

Yet another excellent show. Wild Way was beautifully performed, you could tell it was a song that meant a lot to Tori and it sounded great just on the piano, no effects or anything. Orange Knickers was ferocious tonight, with the ending being extended and Tori really rocking out on it. She flubbed some of the lyrics in the beginning of the song, but just kept going, and I think this has to be the definitive performance of that song. It's the performance I most want video/a recording of from this show. It was so intense.

The little bit of I Knew You Were Trouble before Damage was just 2 lines or so, not a full verse/chorus. It was a fun little thing, but don't expect anything close to a full cover when a recording shows up. Damage was excellent too. River was beautifully performed, and Landslide was just as good as it was in 2011. I was a little surprised that she did two covers that have been done many times before, but when the songs are as great as those two, I can't complain.

The TTTS/iieee combo is incredible. I don't know where she gets the energy to do these two back to back because they're both insanely strong. TTTS was extended even more tonight and she was killing the high notes at the end. iieee sounded just as good as in Cork, and was a little smoother with the transitions from organ to piano. The way she rocks out on the bridge is just magical. I hope this and Voodoo trade off as set closers.

The encore was also a highlight. This was the first show with a stage rush and the first one where people remained standing the whole time and I think it helped up the energy level a ton. Cornflake Girl was so much fun and her piano playing was tremendous. She also sang the golden gun bits over the other backing vocals and it sounded so good. The whole audience was jamming along with her too. Tori asked the audience to sing along to Leather again with her, and took out her earpiece to hear the crowd. People really did sing along and it was an extremely fun performance. Toast served as a beautiful closer and Tori seemed so genuinely happy with the entire performance and the audience tonight.

I always thought Fat Slut would work as a great Beauty Queen-esque intro to Doughnut Song.

*runs*

That would actually be kind of amazing. I always liked the Apollo's Frock intros she was doing to Doughnut Song back on the DDI (like, 8 years before Apollo's Frock was actually released...) but Fat Slut/Doughnut Song would be a whole other flavor of amazingness. She'd have to do it on the Hammond though and then just turn to the piano and go right into Doughnut. ::songgasm::

I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but her gay pals improv before "River" sounds very similar to her improv from "Welcome to Sunny Florida."
