What's your favourite? I manage to make a tub of Ben & Jerry's last for weeks, because I'm the kind of person who only eats a small bit of ice-cream, but loves and adores it.

I'm a big fan of fruit sorbets - especially raspberry. <3

My cinema icecream is usually 1 scoop sorbet, 1 scoop chocolate fudge brownie or something similar, and then the 3rd scoop depends on my mood.

I know it's not really summer any more, but ICE-CREAM IS A YEAR 'ROUND FOOD!

I'm not usually into the sweet ice cream flavors (flavours), but they seem make a lot of earthier flavors (flavours) lately. Green Tea and Sesame are particular favorites. I had a Wasabi ice cream that was surprisingly good, though not something I'd want every day.

BTW - It's still summer here.

Fruit sorbets and fruit gelato are often the ticket for me, but sometimes I do need the fat content that only ice cream will provide. ;)

I know it's boring, but I honestly don't think it gets any better than good ol' vanilla bean. Sometimes with a little maple syrup drizzled on top. Amaretto and Cookie Dough (if cookie dough counts as a flavour) are other ones I go for quite a bit. Really, though, I've never met a flavour I didn't enjoy. The stuff is genius.

Mmm, that's my favorite. Raspberry sorbet or raspberry sherbet is heaven.

I also like ice cream with chocolate and peanut butter in it. Like Moose Tracks. Mmmmm.

I think I'm dissuaded from vanilla ice-cream from all the cheap vanilla ice-cream I had as a kid. :(

I think I'll have to try some proper vanilla ice-cream and see.

I love the Bourbon Vanilla ice cream that you can buy in Germany (I'm sure it's available elsewhere, but I haven't seen it in the US yet). I'll take French Vanilla in the US as a substitute, though.

Do, ebby! Cheap vanilla ice cream is criminal stuff. My boyfriend came home with some and I just couldn't do more than a few spoonfulls. I buy all sorts of "value"-end groceries, but a good vanilla ice cream is one thing I'll shell out for.

I don't eat ice cream too often, but if I do, I usually go for mint chocolate chip because it's safe. I tried to deviate from it once, and needless to say, I was not pleased. Pistachio is nice as well. Usually, however, I go for sorbet or fruit gelato. I adore anything lemon flavored (so refreshing!), but any type of fruit will do. Aah, now I want sorbet :(!

Ok. Next time i get a B&J at the cinema I'll add a scoop of their vanilla to my trio and see how I feel. That way at least I have the other two scoops in case I still don't like it much.

Ice cream is my most favoritest thing EVER. Gelato too...but nothing will hit the spot quite like a hot fudge sundae.

I don't care for fruity flavors in ice cream that much, HOWEVER, I will still eat it if you give it to me. The best ice cream sundae I have ever had is at Margie's Candies in Chicago. Holy shit. They make hot fudge that has the taste and consistency of the inside of a molten chocolate cake. I could eat there every day.

I currently have a tub of B&J chocolate fudge brownie in the freezer. There's about 1/4 of it left. It's been there for at least 3 weeks if not 4.

I don't eat a lot of it, but I fucking love it. Restraint. I has it.

My other half loves that stuff. Though he's recently swapped to the B&J's Frozen Yoghurt of the same flavour.

Whilst I'm not a huge ice-cream fan, for me, it's always been about Rum & Raisin but I did have a thing for B&J's Fossil Fuel. Thank goodness I haven't seen it anywhere for about a year.

Cherry Garcia's better than you think, too, and if you're going for vanilla, ACCEPT NO SUBSTITUTES:

http://www.mackies.co.uk/Library/Images/page_images/867_mackies_tubs.jpg

I'm also really fond of Dreyer's, and any rum raisin gets my okay because it's the best standard flavour. Green & Black's stuff is classic too. But I'll eat anything, ice cream is the best food ever.

I used to go for B&J's frozen yogurt, but fuck it - it's still full of sugar, and IMO IMO IMO, if you're going to eat ice cream, you should just cut the crap and do it properly.

!!BRIT TIP!! Ben & Jerry's is half price at Tesco just now. This happens a lot.

I love it when B&J goes half price. That's usually when I buy my ice-cream.

Oddly. As much as I like Hagen Das ice-creams when I'm at the cinema, I never buy them for home. I like combining the flavours in the cinema but I find them individually a bit plain sometimes. Just me?

Whappo
08-25-2010, 03:13 PM
No, I'm the same. I'd never buy Häagen-Dasz for home. It's definitely cinema ice cream, whereas B&J's is much more comforting and suited to the home. Given the choice though, I'd pick B&J's 9 times out of 10 no matter where I am. I just love the stuff.

Plus, Häagen-Dasz tries to be sort of classy, I feel like it thinks it's better than being bought and entirely consumed within an hour.

Yep, I was going to mention this when I saw Blue Bell in the thread. It tastes just like banana pudding without going through all the trouble of having to make it. ;l The only problem is that I can rarely find it in the pint containers, so I end up having to buy a half-gallon of it (or whatever ridiculously large size tub they sell). That never bodes well for me. I will eat the whole thing in 2 days.

I have always been partial to Breyer's Natural Vanilla, but have recently taken up with Moosetracks. The only problem I had was that I'm not very into peanut butter, so I'd pick around the tiny PB cups. However that's no longer a problem thanks to:

Carvel Ice Cream Bakery

(June 30, 2001) - Michael Gehrig reports:

Just to let you know, a Carvel Ice Cream Bakery in West Hempstead, New York has been making Ice Cream pints named after Tori's Songs. I've seen Datura (Vanilla w/ butterscotch, chocolate syrup and almonds), Bliss (Every chocolate imaginable), Agent Orange (Orange Sherbert w/ sprinkles), Raspberry Swirl (Black raspberry and vanilla), as well as Spark (Vanilla, fudge, and a cherry center)... all made by "The Ice Cream Assassin".

Just had an entire pint of this in one sitting. I'M NOT SORRY. A+, although the dulce de leche wasn't swirled well, which meant that the top half of the tub was AMAZING (so much caramel!) while it got a little bland towards the end. I'd say I had a new favourite, but this was incredibly sickly and it might have done the job of putting me off excessively sweet ice cream for a little while.

Now I'm craving something savoury and almost (almost!) want to go eat pittas and houmous. But I would probably burst.
