all space cadets on deck! Body Talk Pt. 1 is officially out today.

also, Beatportal.com is hosting a remix contest for "None of Dem" where you can download all of the stems for the song:

Just saw the remix contest a bit ago, very interesting! Wish I was good at that kind of stuff.

Going to go hunt for Body Talk later today. So excited!

Personally, I think it's bullshit that they make you pay for the stems in order to enter the contest.

great cover of Alicia Keys "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart" - the song is so well-suited for her.

i've been following her career since 'show me love', and she has yet to fail me. she has the pop version of the midas touch. all these other wannabe pop bitches could learn a thing or two from ms. robyn. but robyn has one thing going for her others don't: she's smart. she's guided her career through a path many never expected her to take. the former 90s teen queen successfully reinvented herself as an ultra-modern, indie champ with the songs to back up the hype. and what songs they are! not only does she possess an elastic voice that can make you wanna dance and flow along with her, she can also tug at your heartstrings and reduce you to tears with her electroballads. she's got IT. and she's only getting better. in a perfect world, robyn would be the biggest pop star on the planet. and given her recent output, natural charm and charisma, world domination could very well be in her future.

Three acoustic performances, featuring Dancing On My Own, With Every Heartbeat, and Hang With Me:
http://www.capitalfm.com/on-air/rich-kat/watch-robyns-live-session-rimmel-room/

And an amazing rendition of Dancing On My Own with the band, recorded live in London:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avekhlvSxP4&feature=player_embedded#

I want Dancing On My Own to be a huge mega-smash single so bad, just so I can hear it more and Robyn reaches the level of success she deserves. I love having her as a hidden treasure, but her sound is so big and bold that people deserve to hear it as well.

just got BP1 yesterday and listening now. I love Don't Fucking Tell me What to do, Dancing on My own (amazing song) and None of Dem. The last two mellow tracks are also great but I don't love the rest so generally, a really good short album I'm glad I bought. I'll definitely look into the subsequent parts of this series.

OK dont hate me but while I adore the song I'm not crazy about this remix's drum track. It's almost just "1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2" with the occasional shuffle. I suppose sparse is what they want though. The song itself and the synths are gorgeous of course. Excellent move to have included the demo on BT1 as a teaser.

PopJustice Review:

We didn't want to be too quick with our reaction to Robyn's 'Body Talk PT2', partly because we didn't want to rush into saying how amazing it was but also - after listening through it once - because we didn't want to rush into saying that it felt slightly underwhelming.

Well, after a few days of living with the album we can report that the news is this:

» It feels like a different album to 'Body Talk PT1', although it pulls off similar tricks. It's like someone telling you a story you've heard before while wearing a different hat to keep it interesting.

» It's not as strong as its predecessor but it's far stronger than it at first seems - the songs feels like they're more confident and less desperate to please on first listen, which we suppose makes sense because 'Body Talk PT1' did the proper re-introduction business and 'Body Talk PT3' will be doing the selling-around-Christmas gruntwork, so 'Body Talk PT2' can relax a little.

» In terms of a brief track by track 'In My Eyes' and 'Include Me Out' both feel like an affectionate updated throwback to Robyn's 'Keep This Fire Burning'-era songwriting, the reswizzled 'Hang With Me' fills this album's tears-on-the-dancefloor emotronic highspirited downheartened gloompop quota, 'Love Kills' is an upbeat wibbly affair, 'We Dance To The Beat' is a bottom-heavy, tune-agnostic club track, 'Criminal Intent' is a 'Fembots'-esque romp, 'U Should Know Better' is the rather frenetic Snoop Dogg collaboration which to these ears doesn't quite work as well as it should, and 'Indestructible' is a classic Robyn uberballad destined, we suspect, to reappear on 'Body Talk PT3' in a different form.

You're probably already starting to think about your 'Best Of Body Talk' playlists - well, we'll be adding 'Include Me Out', 'Hang With Me', 'Love Kills' and 'Indestructible' to ours, bringing the running total to ten tracks. Add four more from 'Body Talk PT3' (if the third installment is indeed a brand new selection of eight songs) and we'll have a cataclysmically brilliant 14-track album. Hurrah.

the show last night in Boston was incredible. it was my first time ever seeing Robyn and i was really blown away. she dances her ass off up there and really just lets loose. it was totally infectious, my legs are killing me in a good way today from all the dancing. i have to admit i actually got a little teary eyed during Dancing On My Own, it was just one of those moments on the dancefloor where you feel like it's a total escape and this mass state of euphoria, particularly when the drums come back in after the bridge. that song is pop perfection. the arrangement of Cobrastyle they're doing is out of this world too, that was definitely my other favorite of the night. it was so much fun to be in a crowd of people who knew every word to all the songs...it still boggles my mind that she's not more popular in the US than she is.

i'll put the full setlist behind a spoiler.

Kelis came out on stage with her before the last song and said they'd be signing stuff after the show but i had to take off since it was a work night and the show went past 11:30. Kelis came on over a half hour late which pushed back Robyn's start time too. i don't know Kelis' new album well but her set was great too. it was a non-stop DJ set with no breaks between the songs which was very cool. i wish the show had been on a weekend night because i'm definitely hurting today (hungover and tired) but it was well worth it.

saw Robyn last night at Montreal's Osheaga festival. It was AWESOME, the best show of the day. I danced all through it, the sound was great, the energy on stage and in the crowd was outstanding, Robyn really danced all the time and seemed so happy to be there and surprised by the amazing response from the crowd at each song. At the end, there were fireworks over the city and so it was like a perfectly magical moment. I had my Robyn tshirt with me (but didn't WEAR it of course). I didn't know all the songs but everything was so great. A real party. It's a shame she came on 45 minutes (!!!) late because of stupid technical problems. We forgot all of that the moment she came on though. Great show!

What has been the order of performers on this tour? I know Kelis goes on before Robyn, but how about Dan Black and Far East Movement?

in Boston, the show time on the ticket was 6:45, and the set times were supposed to be Kelis at 8:30 and Robyn at 10:00 but Kelis was about a half hour late going on.

Fantastic review that has me a million times more excited than I already was for Body Talk Pt. 2! Sounds like this could even knock Pt 1 out of the water!

First Listen: Body Talk pt.2 by Robyn
August 3, 2010 · Leave a Comment

As you may have noticed, we’re pretty big fans of Swedish pop star Robyn. You may also have noticed that she’s part way through a fairly audacious plan of releasing three albums in the space of about six months, an endeavor called The Body Talk Trilogy (it’s not officially called that, but we like that it sounds like a string of vaguely pornographic blockbusters). Well, Body Talk pt.1 has been and gone, doing its job of re-introducing Robyn to the world after a pretty lengthy gap. It also spawned one of the singles of the year in the shape of ‘Dancing On My Own’, a song so joyfully sad that it made us weep whilst bouncing off the walls.

3mins30 has been granted EXCLUSIVE access to Body Talk pt.2 (i.e. the PR company sent us a copy) and we’re honoured to bring you our track-by-track rundown of an album that steps back slightly from the balls out experimentation of pt.1, but is still loaded with enough surprises to keep everyone happy.

Seeing as Robyn is named after a bird (sort of), we will be using the following scale to rate each track:

5 = Robin

4 = Owl

3 = Blackbird

2 = Bearded Tit (arf!)

1 = Pigeon

1). ‘Look Into My Eyes’ (Produced by Robyn, Kleerup, Klas Ahlund) – Immediately forges a link back to her last album, Robyn, with the processed shout out to her Konichwa Records label, this shimmering, slow-burning call to arms was written as a way of reflecting on how crazy things had become for our fair maiden. Lyrically it’s all “you’ll be OK my love, don’t stress”, but there’s a humour there that we’ve come to expect from Robyn (“we’re all the same / star-dust and stuff”) that prevents it from being too preachy. The best bit is when the bridge kicks in and the music lifts slightly as she sings “I bet you think it’s better on the inside there with them / We’re better off outside looking back in”. Lovely.

Verdict = Owl

2). ‘Include Me Out’ (Produced by Klas Ahlund) – You want proof that pt.2 sees more of a return to the instant pop thrills of the Robyn album? ‘Include Me Out’ was co-written by Alex Kronlund and Wikipedia tells us that he co-wrote Britney’s ‘Lucky’ and ‘If U Seek Amy’ singles. ‘Include Me Out’ may not include the cloying sentimentality of the former or the crow-barred in sex factor of the latter, but it does contain a chorus so sky-scraping the song practically takes off. Musically, it’s a twitching, beat-heavy electropop banger that doesn’t try too hard, i.e. it doesn’t smother the melody with too many bells and whistles. There’s also the first example of Robyn’s amazing rap skills during the killer mid-section.

Verdict = Owl

3). ‘Hang With Me’ (Produced by Klas Ahlund) – You may well have heard this gem before, either as an acoustic version on pt. 1 or in this new incarnation. On first listen it all seems slightly light-weight, like a fairly middling remix, but over time that chorus and those melodies start to embed in your brain and the whole thing begins to hang together. We still find ourselves longing for a bit of an explosion half way through, a la ‘Dancing On My Own’, but this is a single that understands it’s place; to be a huge, appeal-to-everyone smash-a-roo. Plus, this lyric is killer; “I know what’s on your mind, there will be time for that too”. Has there ever been a better example of the essential differences between men and women in a pop lyric?

Verdict = Robin

4). ‘Love Kills’ (Produced by Klas Ahlund & Savage Skulls) – Darker and more brooding than what’s gone before, ‘Love Kills’ finds Robyn in familiar territory lyric-wise; love is something to be feared, until that someone special comes along and you let your guard down and lo and behold the whole process starts again. The chorus is pretty simple and repetitive, but once again there’s another brilliant middle-eight about Stockholm Syndrome (amazing!) and when the beat kicks back in it all seems a bit bigger and gloomier. This feels like the track that people are really going to enjoy live.

Verdict = Owl

5). ‘We Dance To The Beat’ (Produced by Robyn & Klas Ahlund) – This has something in common with pt. 1 opener ‘Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do’ in that it’s not really a conventional song in terms of verse-chorus-verse structure. Instead, it features a heavily treated Robyn repeating “we dance to the beat” and random lines such as “we dance to the beat of bad kisser clicking teeth”, which is a pretty good line all things considered, but actually the song meanders along fairly aimlessly.

Verdict = Blackbird

6). ‘Criminal Intent’ (Produced by Klas Ahlund & Diplo) – This starts a bit like Britney’s ‘Piece of Me’, Robyn half-singing, half-speaking lyrics with a similar vocal melody, whilst in the background Diplo adds some typically banging beats. There’s a bit of a storyline, lyrically, with Robyn being hauled in front of a judge for being, well, pretty fucking hot. There’s a great bit where a males voice playing the judge says, “do you wish to say anything before the sentence is imposed” and our hero says, “I do your honour”, and goes on to explain her hotness. The chorus is immense and features loads of odd electronic squiggles that should put a smile on your face. It also has a very good final minute during which all the keyboards and synths seem to have a bit of a meltdown.

Verdict = Robin

7). ‘U Should Know Better’ feat. Snoop Dogg (Produced by Klas Ahlund & Snoop Dogg) – Right, this is a proper duet and not just a ‘featuring’ credit, Snoop and Robyn trading raps as well as singing parts. Lyrically, it’s about travelling around the world and realising that literally no-one can fuck with them. Despite Snoop’s credentials as a rapper, it’s Robyn who walks off with the best line; “When in Rome I sat down with the Romans / Said we need a black Pope and she better be a woman / There’ll be no more celibacy / Even the Vatican knows better than to fuck with me”. It all zips along at a frantic pace, Ahlund creating another bass-heavy soundbed that never gets in the way of a good song. Robyn and Snoop (Snobyn?) should do an entire album, seriously.

Verdict = Owl

8). ‘Indestructible (Acoustic Version)’ (Produced by Robyn and Klas Ahlund) – Once again the album ends with an acoustic version of a song we’ve yet to hear the electronic version of. Once again, it’s an utter triumph, Robyn’s voice sounding better than ever as strings swirl around her. This is going to sound huge on pt.3, but as it is it’s one of the best things she’s done. You know when you hear a melody so perfect it makes your stomach hurt a bit? Well, that happens here each time she sings “and I never was smart with love, I let the bad ones in and the good ones go” and the strings reach a yearning crescendo. It’s so perfectly balanced and so perfectly pitched that you start to suspect some kind of black magic shenanigans.

Verdict = Robin

Body Talk pt.2 is an album that feels slightly more relaxed than its predecessor. Though it’s extremes are less apparent – there’s nothing here as immediately jaw-dropping as ‘Dancing On My Own’ or ‘None Of Dem’ – it settles quicker and works better as a cohesive album. Still displaying her sense of fun, but also delivering two knock-out examples of her ability to make yearning, emoto-pop, it’s the perfect distillation of where Robyn’s at in 2010. Roll on pt. 3 we say.

Overall verdict = Owl (maybe Robin, given time).

I saw Robyn in Philly last night and it was amazing. I enjoyed the two openers, and completely loved Kelis' set as well, but since this is Robyn's thread let's just talk about her. Robyn hit the stage running with a blistering performance of Fembot, and the crowd was insane with joy. If the crowd response to Kelis was great, this was overwhelming, and the energy didn’t let up for the entire set. As someone who likes Robyn, but didn’t see what made her so special to people, this performance made me see why she’s different from other pop stars. She owned the stage, dancing by herself with some moves that looked straight out of work-out videos but were oddly amazing. Her on-stage charisma and personality was something to behold. There was a tremendous performance of Cry When you Get Older (the best track on Body Talk part 1, although few people agree with me on that), which was followed by an amazing new version of Cobrastyle that handily trumped the studio version. Who’s That Girl was another highlight that Robyn put a ton of energy and emotion into.

The show had only a few minor flaws: the non-performance of Don’t Fucking Tell Me What To Do, where Robyn ate a banana and danced around instead of singing, which really should’ve been a video interlude while Robyn had a mid-set costume change (additionally the Konichiwa intro also should’ve been a video interlude), although that may have not been possible due to budget reasons. The light show was largely excellent, but when Robyn went downstage by the band, the lights tended to overwhelm and make her difficult to see. These flaws are minor though, and the main set was excellent, concluding with a new version of Be Mine that upped the anger and aggression in the song in place of the sadness of the original. I don’t think that this new version was better than the album’s, but it fit better into the set and was a perfect closer. The encore was unfortunately shorter than at other shows, with no Show Me Love or Hang With Me, both of which I had hoped to hear, but it did contain an epic rendition of With Every Heartbeat that ended the night perfectly. Robyn’s show was far better than I was expecting, and I will definitely be seeing her again when she tours for Body Talk parts 2/3. I also got to meet both Robyn and Kelis after the show, and they were both very nice, cool, and willing to talk to fans in a way that went beyond the usual "sign and go". (You can guarantee meeting them if you buy a CD at the show, if you're seeing them in NYC tomorrow)

If you take the best tracks off of Pt 2 and Pt 1, you have an amazing album...which tells me that Pt 3, which is rumored to be a compilation along with some newer tracks, will be out of this world.

I'd do it like this (in no order):

Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do (she calls this the centerpiece of the project)
Fembots
Dancing On My Own
Cry When You Get Older
Dancehall Queen
In My Eyes
Hang With Me
Love Kills
Criminal Intent
U Should Know Better
Indestructible (the inevitable dance version)

From NPR (http://www.npr.org/blogs/therecord/2010/08/05/129012343/robyn-says-her-business-decisions-are-really-selfish)

Robyn: Putting Out Three Albums In A Year Is A 'Really Selfish' Decision

Robyn's latest album is Body Talk Part 1, but Body Talk Part 2 is right around the corner.

Swedish pop star Robyn stopped by NPR's New York bureau yesterday to talk to Weekend Edition's Jacki Lyden about her new albums Body Talk Part 1 and Body Talk Part 2 — and left a trail of love-stricken boys and girls in her wake. The full interview will air tomorrow, and archive at this link (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=129009153), but here are the choicest bits concerning her moves in the industry.

The diminutive, platinum-haired singer sounds very sweet on the radio, her speaking voice not much different from her singing voice. Asked why she chose to put out Body Talk as a series of short albums in quick succession she claims the unorthodox decision was all about her having more fun. "For me it's been a really selfish decision," she says. "It's been about trying to find a way where I can have more fun making this record."

"I started writing it in July of last year, and I was just looking at the scenario of being in the studio for another year and then maybe touring for three years and not getting to make another album until maybe four years later. And it felt too long for me. I wanted to get back on tour earlier and I wanted to be able to record at the same time, to have more fun and to have a more organic way of working. It's not a conceptual album at all, even though you might think that because of the three parts it is. It's really just a practical solution to that problem."

Robyn has had firsthand experience with that particular "problem". She spent four years on tour supporting her last album, 2005's Robyn, the first release from her own label, Konichiwa Records, as it broke slowly around the world. She says she started the company after working with a major label for 10 years and feeling constricted. Not that people in the industry didn't understand her (though the song Jive, her former label — refused to release, "Who's That Girl?" later charted internationally).

"The music industry is not a bad industry. There's a lot of good people in it, but it's created around the commercial aspect of selling music, which is good. That's what they're supposed to be doing. But they're big companies, you know, so it becomes a situation where it's one type of solution for all artists. There was just no room for me to move in the direction I wanted to."

"I just needed to separate myself from that and have fun again making music," she says. "It was a big change for me, but I didn't really feel like I had another option. For me, it was the last thing for me to try before I quit music. I was totally worn down."

"I remember calling my dad and saying, 'I'm going to go back to school,'" she says. "And he was like, 'Call me back when you've thought about this for a while. You're not going to be able to get away from this. This is what it's like. If you want to have a creative profession this is what you have to deal with.' I kind of felt like, 'I'm gonna give it one last shot and start this company and see where it takes me.' And it worked."

Robyn is quick to point out that she has not severed ties with the music industry.

Despite having her own label, she still works with record companies around the world: Cherry Tree Records in the U.S., Island in the U.K. and other labels which distribute her album internationally. She says she enjoys the new freedom this process allows her.

"I get to have my little bubble," Robyn says. "I get to go back to Sweden, have my creative process to myself and work with the people I want to, and I turn in the record when it's done."

I dunno guys. I guess it takes me a little bit to warm up to new music sometimes. The album is good, and it some spots really great- but at the moment I still prefer PT1. Off this new one I do love:

Hang With Me, Criminal Intent, U Should Know Better, and Indestructible.

I like parts of In My Eyes.

OK, so obviously that's a lot for an 8 track album...However, there's no Dancing On My Own or With Every Heartbeat for me on it.

I know, right?
When I started playing it the first time and I heard the first 30 seconds I knew things were going to be great. I love the way the song builds and drives up the energy levels.
Part 1 had a perfect 3-song sequence with fembot-dancing-cry, part 2 has the same with the first three tracks.
Make that 4 tracks, btw. I forgot about Love kills for a sec ;)

There is not 1 weak song on this album. I could see why people would find track 5 and 6 a bit too unfocused but fuck 'm!
And I can only imagine how brilliant the dance-version of indestructible can be, cause aucoustic it's gorgeous.
After seeing what she did with Hang With Me aucoustic vs dance, it should be very special :)

After listening to Pt. 2 a ton over the last few days, I definitely think it's stronger as a whole than Pt. 1. I absolutely love it! U Should Know Better didn't do much for me the first few times, but it's becoming a favorite.

A lot of Pt. 2 reminds me of Robyn especially Include Me Out and U Should Know Better. Which I wasn't expecting from the club direction she took on Pt. 1. I can't say that I'm sad to see her rapping again.

Indestructible is going to sound so amazing as a dance track. I'm guessing it'll be the single from Pt. 3?

Ahahaha, that sneeze at the end!

So, now that we've had Pt 2 for a while, which do you think is best?
For me, even though Dancing on my own is the best song of them all, as a whole I find Pt 2 much more enjoyable / cohesive.

Jake
08-12-2010, 06:36 AM
Pt 2 is DEFINITELy more cohesive, and probably better. Like you said, DOMO is the highlight of each so far, but the songs compliment each other so much better on Pt. 2. The euphoric vibe of the first three tracks, then the gritty dance, ending on a climactic note with Indestructible.

She said Pt. 3 isn't written, which gives me high hope it won't be a compilation like it's been rumored. 8 more new songs! Bring them on! She really did it right with this release schedule.

hex object
08-12-2010, 08:56 PM
Listening to both parts one after the other made me see how she (intelligently) chose to release the more immediate stuff on Pt. 1 while saving the growers for Pt. 2. Pt. 2 recalls the more relaxed tracks on Robyn (Handle Me, Should Have Known, With Every Heartbeat, Anytime You Like) which are my favorite moments of that record. I can't choose which part I prefer because I like some songs on Pt. 1 more than anything on Pt. 2, yet Pt. 2 is way more listenable.

It's brilliant that she's going to be writing new stuff for Pt. 3!

BettahDevil
08-13-2010, 12:29 AM
For a while, I was thinking Pt. 1 kicks Pt. 2's ass - no question. But not so much anymore!

I can't wait for the third installment, so I can start making my own tracklists/orders. "We Dance to the Beat" belongs right in the middle.. it'd be a great "album break" with maybe "Dancing On My Own" following. "Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do" will definitely be the opener.

I've got SO many ideas already, can't wait to make the "ultimate Body Talk"!

True on all of that! I've never seen a Florence performance before, so that was a great introduction to them for me. The opening part of their performance was VERY reminiscent of Kylie Minogue's performance of Slow at the 2003 MTV EMAs.

I hope that Deadmau5 mix of Dancing On My Own surfaces in full at some point, it sounded interesting. It sucks that Robyn only got 30 seconds, especially since she's such an excellent live performer and probably would've gotten a big sales/recognition bounce from a full performance like Florence has. Ah well. I did love her look, it seemed like a homage to "Open Your Heart" Madonna.

I cannot get None of Dem out of my head lately. Just trying out this remix, loving it so far:

BT pt2 has grown on me after, I've got to admit, a fairly unblown-away first few listens.

But now Hang With Me, Love Kills, and as everyone is rightly saying potential career highlight Indestructable are totally fantastic.

However - We Dance To The Beat...? I've really tried but am ungrabbed. After about 4 repeats of the main sample I'm thinking "OK, I want that to stop now". It's an alarm clock with no snooze button to me I'm afraid. It and Criminal Intent are probably my least favourite Robyn tracks to date. But hey, she's playing with styles, I never want her to stop doing that, I'm loving the others.

Indestructible (Acoustic Version) is a song by Swedish singer/songwriter Robyn, taken from her sixth studio album, “Body Talk Pt. 2″. It was written by Robyn and Klas Ahlund and reflects “the downside of needing someone”.

“Indestructible” has been reworked and will be released in the UK on November 22nd as the lead single from Robyn’s new album “Body Talk Part 3″ which will follow a week later.

So what did everyone else think of the Amsterdam show? I got in at the last minute (I got a ticket about halfway through the openers) and really enjoyed it, although I think the Philly show I saw on the All Hearts tour was a little bit better. Love Kills was the highlight from the Body Talk part 2 songs, and I also loved The Girl and the Robot. Be Mine was great as well, I hope that mix gets released officially. Closing with Show Me Love was fun too, especially since I hadn't heard it at the Philly show.

My one complaint is that the best Body Talk Part 2 songs weren't played: Indestructible (I understand why it wasn't but still) and Criminal Intent. I think the show would benefit from dropping or shortening the We Dance To The Beat/Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do mix in place of another song as well, even if that mix was pretty cool.

Hmm, I wonder what tracks are getting cut from the 2 EPs we already have. I figure Jag Vet En Dejlig Rosa is gone, as well as the acoustic versions of Hang With Me and Indestructible. Maybe Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do and We Dance To The Beat will be cut as well? That still leaves something to be cut from part 2, and there's not an obvious choice.

Dancing On My Own

I think Don't Fucking Tell Me What To Do will most certainly be on there. She called it a centerpiece of the album, actually, because it goes along with the unconventional nature of releasing the album.

My bet on the tracklisting would be:

1. Don't Fucking Tell Me What to Do
2. Fembot
3. Dancing On My Own
4. Cry When You Get Older
5. None of Dem
6. In My Eyes
7. Hang With Me
8. Love Kills
9. We Dance to the Beat (She'll put it there, I don't want it there! I'd rather have Criminal Intent)
10. U Should Know Better
11. Indestructible

Official word from Robyn:

Body Talk: Released…
USA – 22nd Nov
Scandinavia – 22nd Nov
Australia – 26th Nov
UK – 29th Nov
Germany – 3rd Dec

I’m going to keep mixing up my tours with studio time and am hoping to stick to this new way of releasing music next year. This is the third, last part and completion of the Body Talk album. It was never my goal to break some kind of a world record in how many songs I could release in a year. Although I think it would count as a pretty good attempt, it’s been about the process for me. It’s been very interesting to try and figure out a more organic way of making music. A way that is unbiased and has it’s starting point in what feels logical to me, but also to the listeners.

Even though it was never a conceptual idea, but a practical solution to the problem of getting bored with just doing one thing at a time, it has influenced not only the music, but all the visual content for the album as well. And the way I’ve communicated with press and listeners. It’s been amazing to share the process with you. As soon as I have had an idea of what I’m doing so have the fans and that interaction has been super interesting and fun to me. As I’m writing this, I am still mixing the third album.

There are 5 new songs ready to be released and I’m also including music from Body talk pt 1 and 2 to complete this body of work in what will make the turbo version of the Body Talk album. Thanks for tagging along with me on this ride!

Body Talk tracklisting below, take a look at the new artwork here!

Some more info from Cherrytree about the release:

On November 22nd, Cherrytree Records will release Body Talk, the final in a trilogy of 2010 albums from Robyn. The Swedish singer-songwriter’s work recently prompted London’s Sunday Times to ask: “Who else is recording chart-bound pop as sophisticated as this?” while NME said Body Talk “might just be the album of the year.” The new record will contain 15 tracks: five brand new songs plus five tracks each from Body Talk PT 1 and PT 2. See below for track listing.

With “Time Machine,” one of the new tracks, Robyn comes full circle in her career, collaborating once again with Max Martin, who produced “Show Me Love” and “Do You Know (What It Takes)” on her first album, Robyn Is Here. Both songs charted in the Top 10 hits of the Billboard 100. “Indestructible,” an acoustic track with a surging string section on Body Talk PT 2, is transformed into a pulsating, fully electric dance floor gem on the new collection. Body Talk illustrates the breadth of Robyn’s recent collaborations – from Diplo (“Dancehall Queen”), Kleerup (“In My Eyes”) and Snoop Dogg (“U Should Know Better”) to Röyksopp (“None of Dem”), Savage Skulls (“Love Kills”) and, of course, her longtime producer Klas Ahlund, who was instrumental in making the Body Talk trilogy.

Robyn, who performed her current single, “Dancing On My Own,” with Deadmau5 at MTV’s Video Music Awards, will appear in “Gossip Girl” as a surprise guest at Blair's birthday party. She’ll perform "Hang with Me" in the episode, which will air on The CW on Monday, November 1st, at 9:00 p.m. She’ll perform on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” on November 11th.

After wrapping up her current sold-out European/U.K. tour, Robyn will launch her second North American outing of 2010. Maluca and Natalia Kills will open on the upcoming run, which kicks off on November 5th in Miami Beach, FL. Robyn’s recent “All Hearts” jaunt with Kelis was named by Spin as one of the “25 Must-See Summer Tours.”

I'm not a big fan of the cover, it looks kinda cheap. But maybe it'll look cooler in HQ.

I'm excited to hear her Max Martin collaboration, and I think appearing on Gossip Girl and Jimmy Fallon will be a nice profile boost. Robyn is such an excellent live performer that I'm sure she'll win a lot of new fans through those appearances.

I think the tracklist for Body Talk is pretty solid. The only changes I would make would be to add Cry When You Get Older and Criminal Intent, and drop None Of Dem and We Dance To The Beat or DFTMWTD.

Is that cover supposed to be 3D?

I love the tracklist! The only thing I'd change would be to put "Criminal Intent" on instead of "We Dance to the Beat." Everything else is perfect.

I think the cover looks awesome, actually. i am really excited for this release! i think i could have done without 'don't tell me what to do' and 'we dance to the beat'...but maybe they'll work in sequence.

Hooray! WDTTB can get to fuck though. I hope we do get an acoustic Dancing On My Own as a bonus track or something.

I went to see her on Monday. The show was very strobe-y.

Yeah.. Include Me Out and Criminal Intent instead of DFTMWTD + WDTTB!!!! WTF?!

Do a lot of people really not like DFTMWTD? Everywhere I've looked people are saying it shouldn't be included but it's one of my absolute favorites!

^It's fine, if a bit too repetitive. I think that there are better tracks on Body Talk part 1 and 2 that weren't included on this collection though, and the inclusion of both DFTMWTD and We Dance To The Beat, which fill the same kind of musical space, seems a bit much especially at the expense of excellent songs like Criminal Intent, Cry When You Get Older, and Include Me Out which are all more interesting musically and lyrically.

I love it! It makes a great slow-build opener as its repetitions slowly change, so a bit surprised to see it at track 2. WDTTB has grown on me but IMO its DFTMWTD Jnr.

The Guardian likes Robyn - 4/5 review for the Manchester show (http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/oct/20/robyn-review) - "At her best, she finds the missing link between Abba and Orbital" obligatory mention of Abba (SHE COMES FROM THE SAME COUNTRY AS 3/4 OF THEM!) but still a nice enough phrase.

Thinking Swedish, my head would fall off in delight if she ever covered Stina Nordenstam's Little Star.

^ that is a valid comparison for Robyn though, in my opinion, as she does the same thing of writing heartbreakingly beautiful songs but disguising them often in wonderful upbeat pop production, but when they're stripped down you see just how sad they are lyrically. ABBA did the same thing all the time.

^ I suppose so. Maybe my knee jerk aversion to Tori/Kate comparisons has been blinding me. It feels like journalists are seeing the word "Sweden" and Abba is the first thing that springs to mind so they put it down but you mention better reasons than that.

I know two huge Abba fanatics who've got all "who does this Robyn think she is claiming to be the new Abba, all that rapping and swearing!". Both dead to me now.

Obviously she's really the new Neneh Cherry ;)

1 & 2 leaked quite early, and i'm expecting this one to follow suit. my guess is around halloween. :)

As long as it's leaked by 11/17, so we can blare it on the way to LA to see her! I am so effin' excited about seeing her again. She rocked my shit back in 2008.. i'm hoping I get a chance to meet her again and maybe get something else signed. :)

Dancing On My Own is going for adds next month.

They're just sending it to radio now? The video has been out for, like, 4 months. Unless I'm missing something ...

I like how this is sort of being marketed as the final "album" after two preliminary E.P. releases. :)

Yeah *rolls eyes*. I understand they have to promote things differently in the US, but perhaps the song will pull a "Bulletproof" and become a hit 6+ months after the gays exhausted it in the clubs.

DFTMWTD is one of the highlights of the whole Body Talk series, We Dance to the Beat not so much. I'll echo the statements that Include Me Out and Criminal Intent have more place on a definitive Body Talk album. If anything it speaks to the quality of the work she's produced with the first two Body Talk albums. Too many good tracks at the end of the day.

It'll be interesting to see what the new tracks bring to the series and whether I'll have to edit some of them out (doubt it with the way she's going) in favor of Cry When You Get Older etc.

This whole experiment has just been amazing. I wouldn't mind if she kept releasing an album every few months if the quality is as good as what we've got so far.

Just had to chime in here, and agree. I fucking love "Cry When You Get Older". It is one of the highlights for me on the album. I truly love everything about the song.
