Yeah, well, I know everything by heart so wouldn't need it anyway.

I had a singles playlist awhile ago that I absolutely loved...

    01 Good Fortune
    02 C'mon Billy
    03 Dress
    04 This Mess We're In
    05 Sheela-Na-Gig
    06 Down By The Water
    07 50ft Queenie
    08 A Perfect Day Elise
    09 Shame
    10 When Under Ether
    11 Man-Size
    12 A Place Called Home
    13 Angelene
    14 You Said Something
    15 The Letter
    16 This Is Love
17 To Bring You My Love
    18 Rid Of Me

ok so a few songs weren't actually singles, but any kind of PJ Harvey retrospective should at least have Rid Of Me.

I had never heard of this before today. Is there something special about this version or is it fairly similar to the album in sound/lyrics/performance?

That's from the Black Sessions I think, sort of a b-side on the Help EP 'cause it wasn't on the the Help album. That version just rocks, and is very radiofriendly. I don't think it will do a best of any good to place 50Ft Queenie & Mansize right after each other.

It's from Glastonbury '95, and a much better mix than some of the other official tracks from that show.

It's a great version, but 50ft Queenie is such a classic that I wouldn't dream of using anything but the album version for a compilation. However, I wouldn't mind Angelene and A Place Called Home from Lamacq Sessions, or a live version of Shame substituting the originals.

I've never heard of Guru, but Phead, Rhead and Peej were like my top 3 artists when I was 14.

    5. The Letter
    6. A Perfect Day Elise
    7. Good Fortune
    8. White Chalk
    9. Down By The Water
    10. A Place Called Home
    11. Shame
    12. Angelene
    13. 50ft. Queenie
    14. The Devil
    15. The Desperate Kingdom of Love

Given the lack of news, I'm guessing October will most definitely not be the release date for the new album.

Maybe not... but yesterday, another french webzine (sound of violence), which was the first to announce the "White Chalk" release, wrote that the due date of the new Pj album, untitled right now, is 25th of October in Europe. http://www.soundofviolence.net/actu/...010.html#21050
I emailed them to know what was their source and they answered me that it was planned like that on the updated Universal/AZ schedule...
We don't know anything about this album two months before his release, so this news is hard to believe... if in the next two/three weeks we have no news, we can consider that October is not the release date.

I guess it could still happen, but you'd imagine a press release or announcement of some kind would have to be forthcoming in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for the info, I'm still hopeful for October. I'm craving some new PJH!

None. I am going to predict that the album title will be England, or at least have England in it/English theme. Now just watch it have absolutely no references to England whatsoever!

I am eagerly anticipating some proper news for this. October's looking less likely now we're at the end of August, but there's still two months til the end of October, so news could be coming in the next few days. I believe we didn't find out about White Chalk's title and release date until late July and it came out late September. I think UHH had a two-months-prior announcement too.
