    Awesome!!

One of my all-time favorite songs, and one that's been near the top of my most-played tracks for years:
Sometimes I think the so-called "experts" actually are experts.

Anybody want to talk about Partygoing?

Although I'm not sure how memorable an album it will be for me in comparison to some of Stephin Merritt and Claudia Gonson's other work, there are a handful of great tracks here. My favorite of the bunch is "Sadder Than the Moon," a melancholy gem that would be at home among selections from 69 Love Songs.

Ooh I had no idea there was a new FBH album! I'll check it out although I'm not crazy about the other two albums... as far as Merritt side projects go, I'm all about the 6ths. But thanks for posting that or else I never would have known!

I should check that out D:

I truly adore the first three Magnetic Fields albums but I feel like their discography seems to slide downwards from there (including Love Songs, just imo), though I haven't heard Get Lost, which I should probably correct. I also really love The Zinnias, but it's Merritt's Showtunes album that keeps me interested in post-millennial TMF.

I had a quick listen to "Sadder than the Moon" @ Laura's recommendation and it's certainly interesting! It's thicker and dreamier than anything I've heard by Merritt, and kind of alt-dancey, but it does seem a bit static on first listen. Does anyone know what the FBH project is supposed to do/achieve in contrast to TMF?

^I think FBH was just supposed to be his electronic/dance side project. I'm pretty sure there are no real "organic" instruments used.

That's my understanding too, plastic husband. My favorite FBH so far is still Eternal Youth. "Doris Daytheearthstoodstill" foreva.

Magnetic Fields mastermind Stephin Merritt has scheduled a rare 14-date solo U.S. tour with plans to perform a 26-song, alphabetized set each night. Accompanied by longtime bandmate Sam Davol on cello, Merritt will perform acoustic renditions of songs from throughout his career, ordering them alphabetically by song title. As such, these shows should be of particular interest to fans of such Magnetic Fields deep cuts like Distortion's "Xavier Says" or 69 Love Songs' "Xylophone Track," though a crapshoot for lovers of the band's 2004 effort, i.
