Cool Y'know we've irreparably fucked our planet, right?

Hey, guess what! We're experiencing a global heatwave because we're unable to do anything without poisoning our own environment now! It's going to get worse! We're fucked! And the funniest part is we've had around thirty to forty years of warnings about it, and we've done fuck all to stop it! We are the worst and we deserve extinction. Sadly we're going to take a lot of good species with us, like dogs and cats and tapirs.

Look, see? Terrible. And while everyone is talking about the weather, no-one is talking about the climate, or our affect on it. Because they're scared to, because they think there's still a debate, and the deniers are the same seething mass of right-wing trolls that bully and harass their perceived opponents.

So we can look forward, in the coming decade, to a feedback loop of rising temperatures as ice continues to melt, causing sea levels to rise, reducing their reflective effect, releasing buried carbon (and pathogens!); regions becoming so hot as to be uninhabitable, creating more refugees and a deepening population crisis; crop failure and droughts worldwide; war, oh fuck will there be war, as we remaining fucking idiots fight over dwindling resources.

I saw Generation Z referred to as the Penultimate Generation the other day. Seems appropriate.

Here is a small collection from my bookmarks. It's horrible.

In the future, surface temperatures during heatwaves will likely rise even more more than the average rise attributed to climate change (because the ground is drier).
    At least, that was the conclusion of this study published back in march;

Good for people that think snow in winter disproves "global warming" and that because the Met Office, or other forecasting organisation, can't always get toworrow's weather forecast accurate there is no way they can be right on long term climate anaylsis. Or "twats" to put it another way.

Things aren't quite fucked up enough as is so let's get fracking!

You'd think it would now be impossible to ignore, wouldn't you? That the time for enormous renewable energy infrastructure is long overdue? But nah.

They fucked that tidal lagoon project for Swansea, too. Fuckin' Tories.

I was surprised to see how much energy we do generate by renewables (27% of demand at time of posting with 16% coming from solar) but, yes, given all the warnings we should be much futher ahead on renewables by now.

Those figures from these fascinating sites:

    G.B. National Grid Status
    Gridwatch
    National Grid: Live Status

I'm not sure what will happen to the interconnects we often depend on to make up shortfall, or sell surplus on, post Brexit. Nothing good I imagine.

    Cool. Cool cool cool.

We have 12 years to limit climate change catastrophe, warns UN.

So, y'know, enjoy the crippling anxiety as society blithely ignores the crisis as it has for 30 years, knowing that 70% of emissions are generated by the corporate class, whose financial interests are tied to the status quo and whose wealth will shield them from the worst effects of the collapse.
