Listening to it right now, track one is off to a good start! It's very gospel-bluesy.

ETA: goddamn Blues in Gray!! That long instrumental bridge! Yes mama!

Holy toot, this record is ASTOUNDING. She sounds so inspired, fiercely at the top of her game.

It's really good! And I actually never expected this. I didn't care much for raven and 7, found them to be meandering and rather flat. This has emotion and passion and GREAT arrangements and production. Case in point: the second half of 7 deadly sins is gorgeous!

I'm waiting til I can grab the CD at my show in October, to be honest, but is 7 Deadly Sins a new version? Surprised to hear good things about it since I recall it being... not good.

Super happy to hear a lot of positive reaction to the album, though.

Oh yes, it's different version entirely. The backing is similar but the vocals are MUCH improved. There is a someone else reading the spoken word while Paula sings each number in LUSH Kate Bush - esque harmonies.

ETA: I really loved Ithaca, Raven and 7 very much. But this album, like you said Wout, its so passionate! The musicians, the arrangements, her vocals... it's incredible.

2 ETA: I am not buying the record, because I have no room, so I'm really sad she doesn't seem to be releasing the other track as a digital release like Hope is Everywhere. Oh well, I'll see if I break down and buy at at her show in Oakland BECAUSE I JUST GOT TIX! YASSS!

I saw her tonight at Yoshi's in Oakland. 2nd row, but right near the stage. I cried. She was as amazing as ever.
